Kelly Stabb Award
Campaign by Bowel Cancer West (RCN 1140271)
An annual award to fund projects specifically related to supporting young patients (those under 40) with and at risk of getting bowel cancer named after a young mother from Torbay who passed away in 2018 and did so much to support our work.

Story

I was lucky enough to get a place in the 2023 London Marathon ballot, only my second time trying. I'm pretty new to running, having started with C25K in January 2021. I joined a fantastic running club (Riviera Racers) who have been fantastically supportive and although 26.2 miles is much further away from the distance I currently run, I'm determined to get it done.

I've chosen to fundraise for Bowel Cancer West and specifically, The Kelly Stabb Award. The award supports young people (under 40) who are at risk of, or who have been diagnosed with bowel cancer. The award is named after a wonderful friend, young mother and police woman from Torbay who dedicated so much of her time to supporting Bowel Cancer West, despite being diagnosed with advanced bowel cancer herself. Kelly passed away in 2018, having raised thousands of pounds to support other young women who may find themselves in a similar situation.

I hope that any funds raised in support of my marathon challenge will continue Kelly's legacy and support those who need it most.

Please give what you can.
