Run for Later Life

Royal Parks Half Marathon 2021 · 10 October 2021 ·
I am running this half marathon in memory of my wonderful Nan Julie who, although I lost over 30 years ago, I still think of every day. I used to love going to stay with her and still remember how grateful she was to have my company, especially after her sister Joan and husband Arthur passed away, leaving her alone in the house they all shared. I cherish the times we spent together watching countdown and baking together and still to this day have never tasted a roast or rhubarb pie as good as hers!
I am now proud to be part of the Digital Inclusion team at Age UK Hammersmith and Fulham to support the amazing work they do to help older people enjoy their later lives. I know our centre provides some much needed opportunities to socialise and take part in activities for the older people who live in the community. And I love teaching them digital skills to make sure they can stay in contact with family and friends and can access the many necessary services that are now only available online.
Contrary to popular belief , although we are under the umbrella of a national organisation, we do not receive direct income from them and are an independent charity that is responsible for our own finances. That means that every penny I raise by running this half marathon will go directly to our centre in Hammersmith and Fulham and will help us to continue the important work we do for the older people in our community.
"To raise vital funds and spread awareness in the community, we're counting on you, our amazing supporters. We are thrilled that you have accepted to join in our very first running challenge. Thank you from everyone at Age UK Hammersmith and Fulham."
