Story
Several of us within the team have a very close association with Great Ormond Street Children' Hospital as a result of our children's challenging and complex conditions. However, it is not just our families that have been touched by Great Ormond Street. Every day, around 600 seriously ill children arrive at Great Ormond Street Hospital from all over the UK. Every day, doctors and nurses battle the most complex illnesses, and the brightest minds come together to achieve pioneering medical breakthroughs. And every day is a chance for you to make a difference. This extraordinary hospital has always depended on charitable support to give seriously ill children the best
chance to fulfil their potential.
My daughter Milly has a rare spinal condition and as such we have been regular visitors to Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital (GOSH) since her first surgery in 2014. Milly underwent further complex surgery at GOSH in September 2017 to replace her spinal growth rods. My two-week stay in the HDU with Milly during her surgeries remains a humbling experience. Most of the children there have significantly more complex underlying conditions than Milly’s, many of whom will never get to go home. The devotion, care and professionalism of the staff at GOSH, despite the often challenging and distressing circumstances, inspires me to this day.
This year we are cycling over 300 miles with over 26,000 ft of climbing from Cangas de Onis to Santiago de Compostela in Spain which includes the iconic Lagos de Covadonga climb in the Picos de Europa. This iconic and challenging climb has been used over 22 times in La Vuelta on the professional cycling tour as a summit finish. The climb from our start point is over 4,000 ft of vertical ascent with a steep ramp in the mid- section. This is the fourth leg of our circumnavigation of Europe by bicycle for our charities and with your incredible generosity we have raised over £100,000 to date.
We are completely self-funded so all of your donations go straight to our charities. If you are able to please do support us, every little helps and I know that your donations will make an incredible difference to
those that need it most.
