Our NHS heroes go the extra mile each day caring for our loved ones. Heart-warming donations from the local community will be used to provide facilities, activities and services that support our staff well-being, both physically and mentally.

Story

On Monday 8th June, my Dad was admitted to hospital after suffering with COVID-19 symptoms. With positive airway pressure not working, there was no option but to place him in an induced coma and onto a ventilator, within around 15 hours of being admitted.

The coma lasted for 20 days before he lost the battle, passing away on Monday 29th June in the early afternoon.

We are looking to raise money for the staff that were by his side 24 hours a day. With no visitation permitted, they played our voice notes we sent to him, read our messages aloud to him and even put the football on the radio for him. Knowing this gave us comfort he was in the best hands, despite us not being with him.

The intensive care team also sent his wife a card to let her know that we were in their thoughts. The front of the card had a yellow heart to match the yellow heart my Dad had with him at all times, to show we were connected. It meant so much to us to know the staff appreciated the tragic position we were all in, and we are so thankful. We have since adopted the yellow heart as a symbol for the love we have for him.

The staff do an amazing job, fighting the COVID crisis on the front line every day. Any money raised will go to the WWL Health Care Heroes Fund, which supports the staff in the hospital he was cared for.

Any donations are welcomed to support those who deserve it and need it.

In memory of a loving husband, father and grandfather.
