Story
On 23 August, some of my colleagues and I will be taking part in Relay For Life Isle of Man – a 24-hour endurance walk in aid of Cancer Research UK (CRUK).
We’ll be walking through the day, the night, and into the next morning… because cancer never sleeps, and neither will we!
Like so many people, I’ve watched family, friends, and loved ones face the heartbreak and exhaustion of a cancer diagnosis. Some have survived. Some haven’t. But every single one of them matters.
This event is about honouring them – their strength, their stories, their legacy. It’s about hope. It’s about progress. And it’s about doing something, however small, to help fund the research that could save someone else’s someone.
As part of our Sentient International's hashtag#Making40Matter campaign, we’re aiming to mark 40 years in business by giving back in meaningful ways – and this one is close to all of our hearts.
If you’re able to support us with a donation, however big or small, I’d be so grateful. And if you can’t donate right now, a share or a few words of encouragement go a long way too.
Relay For Life celebrates the power of community fundraising to make breakthroughs happen. Across the UK and the globe, teams of friends, families and colleagues fundraise for world-leading research to save and improve lives, then unite as a community at an event to honour everyone affected by cancer and celebrate the progress we’re making.
How does the money you raise power progress?
- £65 could buy special restriction enzymes. These act like molecular scissors to cut long strands of DNA, allowing our scientists to find out more about the genes that can cause cancer.
- £220 could fund our team of nine cancer nurses for one hour. Our nurse helpline offers confidential support and guidance to people affected by cancer.
When you fundraise for Relay For Life, you’re helping fund research and make discoveries. You’re helping bring about a world where everybody can live longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.
Together we are beating cancer.
Thank you for your support.
