Story
We all know someone who has suffered at the hands of Cancer and it still remains a one of the worlds biggest challenges. Over my lifetime, I have seen family and friends go through the almighty battle of conquering Cancer. Some winning and some losing. The thing they all had in common was their ability to fight regardless of what was stacked against them. That's why I thought the only apt thing for me to take on was a Fight. So on the 14th September I will be stepping in the ring. Being a lover and not a fighter, this seemed like a challenge most would pay to see! Plus I have never boxed before.
Most recently, in 2018, a dear friend Craig Law (who I always looked up to and will continue to do so) lost his battle to cancer. Never have I seen someone fight so hard in the face of adversity with a never ending positive view on life (beating Cancer when it first hit). Craig was treated at UCLH and the care was second to none. Not only was Craig treated there but he agreed to be part of a trial that had some uncertainties but had the potential to not only help Craig but many others. Craig will always be a hero.
It's in memory of Craig that I am raising money for UCHL - Haematology Cancer Care.
Here is what I will be doing for your hard earned cash:
- 9 weeks of intense training - By intense I mean 5Ks, 10Ks, Sparring, Weights training, Sweating, Bleeding, probably vomiting. Just all out pain.
- Stepping into the ring on Saturday 14th September (Opponent to be confirmed) for an all out
Here is little but about the charity I am raising for - UCLH:
We have a strong community of patients, families and staff committed to supporting haematological cancers through fundraising activities and events. Uniquely, we are run by senior clinical staff working closely with all haematology teams and haematology patients ensuring donations make a significant impact on the services here at UCLH. We provide wide-ranging support including high-tech medical equipment and research projects, free complementary therapy for patients and families and specialist education for nurses across five inpatient wards, day-care, ambulatory care and young adult and outpatient services.
Thank you all so much for your support,
Love you all
