Story

I remember the day well, I was 12 years old and it was a warm sunny day in Wales (rare I know). I'd gone down to the park on my bike for a ride and not long after ended up on in a heap on the floor of the car park adjacent, knees and elbows scraped to pieces... that was the last time I rode a bike. Fast forward 16 years and I am finally getting back on my bike and all for a good cause. As I write this at the end of January I don't even own a bike.. first minor hurdle but an easy one to overcome. Secondly I have not rode a bike for 16 years and I have now signed up to take part in the biggest ride in football,  a 145-mile pedal pilgrimage to the Dutch capital Amsterdam backed by The English Football League and the League Managers Association. The challenge has been set and I do love a challenge!

In 2016 I found out that a work colleague had been diagnosed with prostate cancer but thankfully through early detection managed to be treated. I'm doing this ride alongside him to help raise awareness and funds to ensure more men are aware of prostate cancer and get tested. I also need your help and encouragement to spur me on to completion.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. Every hour one man dies from prostate cancer – that's more than 10,800 men every year. 1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime. Ignoring prostate cancer won't beat it. Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition – to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.

Please sponsor me to complete this feat and help support the prevention and treatment of prostate cancer!
