Story

I am fundraising for The Oxygen Works and Headway Highland who helped me recover from Covid, lung damage and brain injury after being in and out of hospital for 6 months in 2021.

After nearly dying from Covid and spending 6 weeks on a ventilator in ICU at Raigmore, I woke up paralysed down one side, with both lung damage and an acquired brain injury. I had to learn how to walk, talk and look after myself again. A year ago I could only walk 8 metres with a zimmer frame and now I want to swim 8km to mark the anniversary of surviving Covid.

As a wild swimmer in the Highlands, being in the water became an essential part of my recovery and everyone at Bannatynes has supported me so much. I'll be swimming there most days in September and October to reach my 8km target.

Thank you in advance for any help, support or encouragement.
