Help Marie Curie turn the darkest day into the brightest night this festive season!
The festive season can often be tinged with darkness for families affected by terminal illness. That's why, on Tuesday 21 December, Marie Curie Durham Fundraising Group will Light Up the Night at Durham Cathedral, turning the shortest day into the brightest night to remember loved ones lost.
Light Up the Night is an event where you donate or raise £20 to dedicate a lantern in memory of someone special. Not only will this light up Durham Cathedral literally, but all the money we raise will help Marie Curie bring light to the darkest hours of local people affected by terminal illness and their loved ones.
So that we can still adhere to social distancing, this years Light up the Night will be a recorded event. The video will be shared via Facebook or can be emailed directly to you. Please do watch to meet our Marie Curie nurses from the Durham Rapid Response Team, and to view your lantern lighting up the night! We will also be photographing the lanterns to share with everyone.

If you would like a message to be written on your lantern, please add a message alongside your donation or email your local Community Fundraiser, molly.winton@mariecurie.org.uk.
Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness across the UK. Our nurses work night and day in peoples homes and our hospices offer specialist care. We also support people emotionally, provide practical information, and match them with trained volunteers.
