Grays Inn Road: A New Home for Neuroscience

The National Brain Appeal has committed to raise £7million towards the creation of UCL's new, state-of-the-art neuroscience hub on Grays Inn Road.Bringing together research scientists, clinicians and patients, the centre will house a world leading facility for dementia and neurological disease research, with more than 500 neurological research scientists from UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology and the UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI).
We were inspired to raise funds for this wonderful cause, having experienced first-hand the terrible impact dementia has on individuals and their loved ones. Our mother, Lilian Dempster, who was born close to the new research centre. With the onset of her dementia, we lost our mother incrementally, but relentlessly. The woman we once knew so well, disappeared before our eyes. She suffered anxiety, stress and distress, as she realised that this was incurable and degenerative disease.
We don't want others to go through this terrible experience, and urge you to give generously so that your loved ones can have some hope for improved diagnostics, treatment and a cure for this dreadful disease.
