Thanks for taking the time to visit my just giving page!
After 4 years of tests, uncertainty and frustration I have recently been diagnosed with epilepsy. As well as relief to finally know what was wrong there was also the concern of how my condition would affect my life (apart from the medication). I had to speak to an occupational therapist and I was also thinking about changing my job which has also had to be forgotten about due to my condition.
Most people do not realise the effect that epilepsy has on people's lives and that it is a potentially life threatening condition. Suffering with epilepsy means taking medication for the rest of your life and even then it is not cured it just reduces the risk of having a seizure.
SUDEP is a condition not many people know about which stands for sudden unexplained death in epilepsy, it means that a sufferer could go to sleep one night and not wake up.
Recently a friend of my sister passed away after having an epileptic seizure whilst her fiance was at work, she was early 20s and was due to get married in October.
There is no cure for epilepsy at the moment but by doing a skydive for epilepsy action we can raise money to fund research in the hope of finding a cure to prevent more lives being ruined.
