Story
I have always wanted to run the London Marathon before Im 40. This year I have managed to gain a place to run on behalf of the Churchill Day Surgery Appeal at the Oxford John Radcliffe Hospital. I then decided to make it more of a challenge and complete 4 challenges before I am 40. This comprises of a duathlon, half marathon, London marathon and then the Cotswold `ultra 4 marathons in 4 days!! This is a fantastic cause and I want to raise awareness and as much money as possible so please be generous. The Churchill Hospital is a centre of excellence for cancer services and other specialties, includingrenal services and transplant, clinical and medical oncology, dermatology, haemophilia, infectious diseases, chest medicine, medical genetics andpalliative care.
The hospital, together with the nearby John RadcliffeHospital, is a major centre for healthcare research, housing departments ofOxford University Medical School and Oxford Brookes University's School ofHealthcare Studies.
Every year more than 8,000 people have surgery at theChurchill Hospital in Oxford - many for cancer conditions.
Almost all of these patients will spend time in the DaySurgery Unit before and after their operation.
Oxford University Hospitals is embarking on a project toexpand and redesign the unit. We are working alongside the Trust to make thisnew space more welcoming and comfortable with significantly better privacy forpatients.
We know these changes will make a huge difference to somany patients, particularly at a time that can feel stressful and uncertain.
We are looking for support from the local community tohelp us raise £500,000 to make these changes.
