Story
I'm running the London Marathon for Refuge because I want to change statistics like these:
- One woman in four will experience domestic abuse at some point in her lifetime - they are our friends, daughters, sisters and mothers
- Two women are killed each week in England and Wales by a current or former partner
- Refuge is currently supporting over 6000 survivors of abuse
Refuge supports women and children who experience all forms of violence and abuse; I’m running so that there can be more ‘survivors’.
By donating money to Refuge, you are helping victims to reach a place of safety, where they can begin to rebuild their lives.
£10 gets expert advice for a woman escaping domestic violence and abuse
£30 provides one-to-one support for a child fleeing domestic violence
£52 an overnight stay in a refuge for a mother and her children
£104 two nights stay in a refuge for a mother and her children
Refuge's specialist services give a fantastic return - for every £1 invested, a woman, her family and society at large reaps a social reward equivalent to £4.94, so your donation truly helps.
I appreciate there are lots of good causes out there, but this one is often not talked about; let's change that.
Thank you,
