Story
I had a bad cycling accident last May resulting in major surgery which put my life on hold for a while but a year to the day of my accident I got back on my bike and cycled 20 miles with the support of family and friends. I was very nervous but did it and then went on to do the Sportive I had been training for when I had my accident, on the Bank Holiday Monday. I have since increased my distance to 32 miles and am concentrating on being able to do this to raise as much money as I can for Willen. As I find it difficult to walk long distances and have been unable to take part in the Midnight Moo for Willen this year, this is something I want to do to raise those much needed funds.
Willen Hospice provides specialist end-of-life care for adults, focusing on four key areas: specialist symptom control, emotional support, spiritual support and care for carers.Often the most distressing aspect of living with life-limiting illnesses is the types of pain and symptoms which can arise. Our team of dedicated staff and volunteers can give compassionate, specialist support to patients, and their family members, to help deal with, as they wish to, the physical and emotional effects of both their illness and treatments.
