** Wee Update **

Just to say a huge thankyou to everyone for helping me raise so much money for Poppy's fund - you've all been so generous and it's much much appreciated.

The race itself went well - the weather held up until after we finished and we managed to run it in 1hr 6mns so relief all round..aiming for under an hour next time :)

Even better news is that Poppy had another scan on May 20th and for the first time since June 2005 things are looking better - both the tumour and cyst are getting smaller... fantastic news !

Thanks again for all your support - I'll make sure Poppy gets extra hugs on your behalf when I see her in August..

Lisa

Hi all,

Thanks for visiting my Poppy Fields Appeal sponsorship page.  This is a very good cause - most of you will know I don't just run 10k for anyone - so I hope you can spare some of your hard earned cash and add to the fantastic amount of money that's already been raised.

A wee bit of background ...  Poppy is the 6 year old niece of a good friend of mine - Michelle Darlaston - who was diagnosed with a large brain tumour in March 2004, then aged 14 months. Since then Michelle, her sister Lisa (Poppy's Mum) and all their friends and family have raised over £93,000 for various causes including Birmingham Children's Hospital (BCH).

I'm hoping everyone will help to add to this amazing sum which will go directly to the Poppy Fields Appeal - helping Poppy and children just like her.

I've included below a small note from Lisa Guilder, Poppys mum.

Thanks everyone

Lisa Kelly

Poppy Fields Appeal

Our beautiful daughter, Poppy Guilder, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in March 2004 when she was only 14-months-old. To date she has endured 3 brain surgeries and 17-months of chemotherapy. She started another course of chemotherapy in January 2008. We found out on April 21st that this treatment failed. Poppy has since completed a 28-day course of radiotherapy. We are now living from day to day, hoping this treatment has worked.

As a thanks for the excellent care Poppy has received at Birmingham Children's Hospital, our charity Poppy Fields was set up in April 2004. To date we have donated over £80,000 to the hospital. We have also made donations to the radiotherapy department at the QE Hospital in Birmingham, to the Make-A-Wish Foundation & to Malcolm Sargent House in Scotland. Alongside this, we have set up a support group for parents of children with serious illnesses. We will now continue in our quest to support others, fund research & raise awareness.

We are currently fundraising to support Poppy's Consultant Oncologist, Dr. Andrew Peet, in his research into Childhood Brain Tumours. Please visit our website to find out more information.

Many thanks,
Lisa & Brian Guilder
