Story

RUNNING THE AMSTERDAM MARATHON - OCTOBER 2023

RUNNING THE BTU DESERT ULTRA - NAMIBIA - NOVEMBER 2023

RUNNING THE LONDON MARATHON - APRIL 2024

In February 2023 I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer - To say it was a shock at 47 was an understatement - Id removed Alcohol from my life 4 years earlier and had been Plant based for almost 2 years - Id made some massive life changing decisions to start living life fuller. My diagnosis came after a routine visit to my doctors (Sept 2022) where I wanted a bit of an MOT - Blood tests followed and everything came back in top notch condition. The one thing that was off was my PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen).

I was told it was not alarmingly high but was referred to a Urologist. Next was an MRI scan that showed something suspicious so it was time for a Biopsy...I was diagnosed with Cancer of the Prostate. Initially it was scary, uncertain, and totally overwhelming.

But overtime by focusing on what I could control and learning what was totally out of my control I have been able to re-frame the diagnosis and the treatment - I am flooded with gratitude for the choices I've made, Taking control of what I put in my body and then having the courage to lean into my health and make it a priority. Without this I would have never gone to the Doctors, Never had the test. And as I sit here now with no symptoms it would be growing inside me and I would be clueless.

In August this year (2023) I completed 3 weeks of Radiotherapy and this will be followed by a short procedure called Brachytherapy (October 2023). The hope is that this will have blasted the Cancerous cells and killed the tumor and that will be the end of the treatment - Then over the coming months/years I'll find out if it's been a success. But I already know it is - I will be a positive story and I will keep living everyday.

I am super excited about the coming months, the completion of my treatment and then it is time to take on some big running challenges. I'm already in heavy training (Writing in Sept 2023). I am running the Amsterdam Marathon in October followed by my biggest running challenge - to run 250 km`s over 5 days across the Namib Desert in Namibia, Africa in November 2023 all finishing with the London Marathon in April 2024

I'm running all of this for Prostate Cancer UK. Prostate cancer affects 1 in 8 men in the UK. That's one dad, partner, brother, son, granddad, uncle or mate. I'm raising money to help fund lifesaving research and support for men and their families affected by prostate cancer.

Please help me hit my target turning this very hard and upsetting diagnosis into a positive - If I can save just one person as a result of me getting Cancer through doing what I do It will all be sooo worth it.

Thank you in advance for your support
