Rob is running for the Outward Bound Trust in the 2022 London Marathon! I hope you will dig deep to support this fantastic charity and in turn I will dig deep as I’m crossing the 24 mile mark with the finish line nearly in sight!

Why The Outward Bound Trust?

I have felt a close connection to the outdoors since being introduced to the Lakeland fells at an early age. My experiences over the years has demonstrated to me how the outdoors brings a broad spectrum of people together and challenges them in an environment where everyone is equal. To be challenged by and to understand the great outdoors is paramount to understanding
just how important preserving our planet is, while helping those participating to recognise their own capabilities so they can realise greater goals in life. The Outward Bound Trust provides opportunities for young people to challenge themselves and engage with the outdoors, irrespective of their background and giving them opportunities they may otherwise not have, to the benefit of themselves, others and the future. This is why I have chosen to run for this charity.

Why the London Marathon?

I’ve never ran a marathon before, so taking the attitude of “if I’m going to do it, I’m going do it properly” it seemed entirely appropriate to go for one of the most famous marathons in the world! I’ve never ran any distance on roads before with my limited running history being entirely off-road and/or in the mountains. What could possibly go wrong with pounding 26.2 miles around the capital?
