Hola everyone!

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Jeanne and I am a rotational junior physiotherapist at King's College Hospital who is taking on the 2024 London Landmarks Half Marathon for King's College Hospital Charity!

I've been working at King's College Hospital since November 2022 and throughout my rotations I've worked with some of the best, and most experienced, teams in the UK in acute and general medicine, neurology, respiratory, and critical care – believe me, I am very lucky!

While on these rotations I have seen first hand the amazing work King’s College Hospital Charity has done for patients and their families, staff and their wellbeing, research and innovation, in addition to transforming facilities.

For me personally, it is an absolute pleasure to say I’ve worked in the new state of the art critical care centre for which the charity raised £2.6million. This new build is like no other I have seen or experienced on other placements as a student, as it’s purpose it to create an environment that is less clinically daunting for the patient. Furthermore, given that Kings is one of London’s major trauma centres, the helipad is directly linked to the units and is available 24/7 thanks to the funding from generous supporters and fundraisers such as this.

As for this fundraiser, I know I am not a runner (with my longest run ever being 5km). However, I always say “do it once and do it right” so I am therefore committed to giving this my best shot. My aim is to raise £400 and finish the race, should be manageable right?
