We are the MS Society. We are strong enough to stop MS together.

Story

Hello friends, colleagues, family and strangers. Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Our aim is to raise £25,000 towards MS Society UK by playing the longest ever game of indoor 6-a-side football that the sport has ever seen since it's earliest form was invented 2000 years ago in ancient Greece.

The Guinness Book World Record currently stands at 36 hours of non-stop consecutive football. We aim to do 40 hours of our favourite sport! What could be better than a full weekend of playing football?

There are 6 active players and 8 subs per team, who all have to remain pitchside at all times, except for 5 minute organised toilet breaks. There are no half-times or water or food breaks, just non-stop Joga Bonito, rippling nets and professional fouls.

One of our team members, Struan White, has forecasted that each of us will run a minimum of 80K throughout the 3 days. So as a full team of 28 people we will have ran a bare minimum of 2240 kilometres.

The dates for the event are 25th, 26th, 27th May at Caldicott Preparatory Sports Hall, Crowne lane, Farnham Royal, Bucks SL2 3SL.

Please go to thathers.wixsite.com/longestfootballgame to follow our journey, read published articles on the event and watch the live video feed of the actual event as we do it!!!!

A massive shout out so far to Vitalitywise, Fit8 and 111Cryo for all their help and support so far. We couldn't do it without you!

The challenge should be hilarious considering the immense duration of the match, the lack of footballing skill on show and the fact we're stuck in the same room for 40 hours. However it is for a serious cause.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a neurological condition that affects your brain and spinal cord and occurs when your immune system mistakenly attacks the nerve endings of healthy parts of your body, often stopping all communication from the brain to that part of the body and can cause severe disabilities.

More than 100,000 people in the UK have MS and there is currently no cure. Money donated to the MS Society UK will go towards future research, support and advice to all those affected by the disease.

£5 donation = laboratory essentials like petri dishes, latex gloves

£50 donation = 10 calls to the MS Society helpline so they can be there for those who need it

£1000 raised = Run an MRI scanner for four hours, providing details that help us to understand the cause of MS and a step closer to finding a cure.

Any donations, no matter how small will go a long way! Please remember to tick Gift Aid as it increases the value of your donation by 25%.
