Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

John and I have entered the Snowdonia trail half marathon on 24th July. 1230 metres of ascent over 13.1 miles of rough ground! 1230 metres! That’s more than Snowdon itself at 1085 metres, and more than twice as much uphill running as I’ve ever done in a race before! But we like a challenge.

I started a half marathon training plan in February, doing 3 shorter runs during the week and a longer run at the weekend. We have also booked to do the Goldrush trail race in Coed y Brenin forest on 23rd April, and the Excalibur half marathon over Moel Famau on 21st May. Goldrush is 8.5 miles and 420 metres of ascent, and Excalibur is 13.1 miles and 970 metres of ascent. Useful training races before Snowdon… and people walk Excalibur so at least I shouldn’t be last! John is joining me when he can, usually on the longer weekend runs.

I don’t usually ask for sponsorship any more. However, I feel that the challenges I’m doing this year are particularly tough for me and that asking for sponsors, as well as supporting worthy causes, might help my motivation.

Excalibur is organised by Claire House children’s hospice and they ask participants to raise money to support their amazing, much needed work. We are, of course, more than happy to help them. You can find out more about Claire House here: http://www.claire-house.org.uk/ If you'd like to support me, John and the hospice please donate on this page.

John and I would also like to raise some money for Mountain Rescue. Mountain Rescue team members are volunteers and are on call, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They are reliant on donations from the public to provide their service and those of us who spend time in the outdoors (and not just the mountains) never know when we might need them. More information about what the volunteers do is available here: http://www.mountain.rescue.org.uk/ We'd appreciate it if some people would sponsor us on our Mountain Rescue JustGiving page (https://www.justgiving.com/Louisa-Crossley1) instead of this page, please.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
