On Friday 5th February 2016 I accepted a place in the London Marathon 2016 (11 weeks to race day) to represent Guide Dogs and help make a real difference to people's lives; to make sure that they don't lose their freedom and independence as well as their sight.

For the remainder of this year, I'm going to do a series of challenges to earn your support for a very worthwhile cause. Yes, I've done a Marathon before so I am keen to do more and I will find events that will challenge me both mentally & physically throughout 2016.

28th February 2016: Brighton Half Marathon
3rd April 2016: Reading Half Marathon
24th April 2016: Virgin London Marathon
31st July 2016: Prudential RideLondon 100miles (cycle)


I take my sight and my ability to get around for granted (so I am going to do an event (probably a 5 or 10k)  and run it blindfolded - event tbc), it's vital in order to live a full life yet there are so many blind and partially sighted people never leave home alone. Guide Dogs empowers visually impaired people to do that and relies totally on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service. 

Where will your donations go?

Provide life changing mobility. The full lifetime cost of a guide dog from birth to retirement is £48,500. There are currently 4,500 working guide dog partnerships in the UK. 
For example: Guide Dogs top 10 shopping list: 
£5 working guide dog partnership for a day
£10 eye check for a training guide dog
£18 harness handle for a guide dog
£20 one hours training at a guide dog training school
£120 starter kit for a new guide dog owner.
