Louise's 5k every day in May

5k every day in May · 31 May 2019
Sadly, 2-3 women are diagnosed with cancer in pregnancy in the UK and Ireland every day. In 2014, one of those women was Pip, my good
friend Tom’s wife.
Pip’s treatment was thankfully effective, and their third
child Grace is now flourishing after having been introduced to the world
prematurely. It was a very difficult experience for them as a family, and in many ways continues to be. So, I am really thrilled about being able to support Mummy’s Star, a fabulous charity that supports families impacted by cancer in pregnancy, by doing 5k every day in May.
It’s definitely going to be a challenge; let’s face it, I am no runner! I had thought it didn’t sound like much, but it turns out it adds up to roughly four marathons over the course of the month (!)
We are doing this as a team, as we really want to show
our support for Tom and his family, and indeed other families, who are going through this difficult time. We have therefore all agreed to join in with various “every day in May” challenges. Please do visit our team page– we’re all in it together.
Mummy's Star is the only charity in the UK and Ireland dedicated to supporting pregnancy through cancer and beyond. Your donation means that women diagnosed with any cancer during pregnancy or within a year of a birth are able to reach Mummy's Star and the specialised support they offer. They help families to meet others in a similar position, offer small grants to relieve some financial burden, give support to partners and the wider family, promote awareness and support research. Thank you!
