Story

On Saturday 26th March, Cassie and I are taking on the '3 Peaks challenge' in Yorkshire which consists of hiking the 38.7km route within 12 hours to try and raise as much money as possible for The Forest of Dean Children's Opportunity Centre.

Sadly, the Centre is at risk of closing down due to a lack of funding. The Centre costs over £300,000 to run annually but due to the unprecedented change brought by the Covid-19 pandemic, grants are harder to secure and funding streams unreliable.

The Opportunity Centre is a hub for families that accepts and values every child's unique quality while providing care, support, and facilities for local children with special needs/disabilities. With inclusion at the heart of everything they do, 50% of their sessions are attended by children with special needs/disabilities. A centre that is very close to my heart, not only because I was raised in the Forest of Dean so have witnessed all their greatness, but because my niece attends this school. This hub provides her with all the routine, structure, creativity and help she needs to continue to blossom and achieve her goals.

About the charity
