UPDATE - Manchester Marathon now postponed to October 2021 due to Covid-19. Training was going great, got up to 18 miles back in March. So to keep me going I’ve also signed up for the London Marathon My Way - a virtual run for their 40th birthday. I’ll be running 4 runs to make up the marathon distance across the day. Not sure what is wrong with me!
I have decided to enter the 2020 Manchester Marathon because running one marathon two years ago wasn't enough! I'd love to try to beat my time of 5 hours, 17 mins .... and I am running for the wonderful St Ann's Hospice.
Like me, St Ann's believes that everyone deserves the best, high quality care. They aim to meet the unique physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of those with a life-limiting illness, and help maintain their dignity. They provide specialist palliative care for people across Greater Manchester, living with cancer and non-cancer illnesses, at all stages of life.
They are not just focused on patients either. They recognise that it's also a difficult time for relatives, carers and friends - so provide support for them too.
I have been working at St Ann's since October 2018. And cannot begin to explain how proud I am to work for such a wonderful organisation. I meet incredible patients and families, volunteers, staff and fundraisers every single day. Even our hospice therapy dogs (Jakey Wakey in my photo) just makes this place so special. I honestly don't know where we would be without our hospices.
