Story
Over the course of Feb I’ll be running a marathon (26.2 miles) for a charity so close to mine & my family’s hearts. My Dad was diagnosed with Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Cancer (which has spread to his liver) - Christmas 2017 & he has shown a type of bravery during his fight that I didn’t even know could exist. Anyone who knows me is aware I am absolutely not a runner - so I wanted to challenge myself to raise money which can help support the incredible people like my Dad (& their families) who continue to show the most unbelievable bravery & indescribable strength whilst living with Neuroendocrine Cancer.
Over the last couple of years, Dad has undergone a range of treatment including 2 life-extending operations (which saw him have 3/4 of his liver removed, gall bladder removed, spleen removed, pancreas reduced), monthly treatment & 4 rounds of PRRT. Despite the trauma & challenges faced over the last few years he has, like always, held the sky up over the heads of me, my older sisters & my lovely Mum - even when, quite a few times it’s felt like it might come crashing down. Dad continues to be an endless source of positivity & is forever my favourite smile to see. It’s been really tough not being able to spend the last 12 months with him properly due to COVID-19 so I’m hoping that this challenge can give him a laugh at my expense...whilst also helping others just like him!
Thank you in advance for any donations, I’m so grateful for every single penny - each one counts!!
Ps. Try not to laugh too much at the idea of me doing a running challenge.
Keep smiling!
Much love, Luce xxx
