Story
On 20 September Luke Ashton from Kershaw Group will join a team of 13 cyclists whom will be endeavouring to cover over 250 miles of the French countryside in aid of Mind over 3 days.
Mind offers information and advice to people with mental health problems and lobbies government and local authorities on their behalf working to raise public awareness and understanding of issues relating to mental health.
Why support Mind?
99% of UK construction workers are male and the average age of a male UK construction worker is 40. Suicide is the biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK.
1 in 4 construction workers have considered taking their own life.
In March 2017 data released from the office of national statistics revealed that 1,419 people working in the construction industry took their own lives between 2011 and 2015.
This is more than 3 times the number of suicides by those working as corporate managers or directors within sales. And this is more than 10 times the number of suicides by those working in health or social care.
The money raised from this challenge will add to the precious funds that allow Mind to support over 400,000 people each year who experience mental health issues.
