Story
Over the next 3 weeks, LUUWAFC is aiming to run, walk and cycle our way from John O'Groats to Lands End- an impressive 1,407km - to raise money for the charity, Simon on the Streets.
Due to the outbreak of coronavirus, homeless individuals are at a much greater risk than usual; they are more vulnerable to infection and have reduced access to critical support services. We have set a target to raise £800 for Simon on the Streets, who are continuing their crucial work supporting homeless people in Leeds during the lockdown.
Simon on the Street exists to provide support to those people in our community, who are often excluded from, or who refuse the intervention of other services, with a view to empower them to change their lives.Adopting a usually long term approach, we achieve this by providing our service users support directly on the street through outreach. Our support is unconditional, all times of day and night. We provide motivation towards accessing a wide range of services to help improve the health of our service users and life choices they make.
