Story

Hi Guys,

Just checking the weather for tomorrow’s race. RAIN RAIN go away! Not to worry, I’ll be out there, regardless, hopefully avoiding the Extinction Rebellion protests along the way to boot! Please, everyone, take a look at the shirt photos and let me know if I’ve missed any names. If you can’t open the attachments below, you’ll find the images on my JustGiving page.

A quick update on the special people I mentioned at the beginning of this campaign. Nathan’s service was last weekend, a lovely moving tribute to Michele and Mike’s 18 year old son. Aga is waiting on her stem cell transplant surgery, which was supposed to start last Thursday, but has once again been postponed (hoping to be rescheduled soon). Prashila starts radiotherapy end of Oct for one month, and then she’ll be on medication for 5 years…a good outcome! Keith is plugging along, getting closer to his final treatment, number 38. Kristen’s status quo is also good.

If you’d still like to donate, there is time. And don’t forget, there will always be room on my shirt for more names. I can add them right up until the last minute, 7am tomorrow, when I walk out the door.

I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your endless support in this very important cause. Together we have raised nearly £6,700. This brings the total amount (over the past 3 marathons and two half marathons) to roughly £42k, not including the 25% gift aid  bonus, added for UK tax payers. A special shout out to the Anonymous donors, who I would love to thank as well. And to Prashila, who has been a great help with the fundraising!

I’ll leave you with a quick story. We were at a Canadian Thanksgiving dinner last weekend.  Several people, including our hostess, had worked in cancer research. One person worked at the ICR, where she focussed on  FRUIT FLY research. I was awed and amazed to learn that the DNA makeup of the fruit fly has a similar DNA to that of humans. The next time I see one of these pesky little critters, I’ll be reminded of how important they are to ending this awful disease.

There are 61 names on my shirt, and we’ve added a corresponding heart to each one. I am honoured and humbled to be running (rain or shine!) for all of these VERY SPECIAL people! On their wings I will fly!

With Lots of love,
Lynn (& Team Baba helpers, Gene, Lorenzo and Scoob)
