Story
One Week. One Pound. One Goal - to help keep Christmas Extraordinary for people living with incurable illnesses.
As most of you know my dad passed away four years ago following a short battle with Cancer. His wish to come home to be looked after was enabled thanks to the Homecare nurses from Compton Hospice.
Dad lived with me and his wish to come home meant that due to the short amount of time that he had left, no care package could be arranged quickly enough to support us with looking after him.
So we did what we had to do - we decided to go it alone. After Dad's first night at home we soon realised that we had taken on an almighty challenge - Dad needed more than we could give him. I rang Compton knowing that they had supported my Uncle Arthur (my Dad's best friend) who had been looked after at home under the care of the Compton Homecare Team. They arrived within two hours and from that moment he received all of the care he needed, delivered with the utmost care, compassion and dignity. They came during the day ensuring that he was clean and comfortable, building up a close relationship with us all. They came at night, sitting with my Dad so that we could get some rest. In fact they were always there with us- even when they weren't ,if you know what I mean. Our family will always be in their debt and I have tried every year to raise money to support this cause so that they can continue to be a lifeline to families like ours. By joining in with the 'Quid for Compton' campaign , you can help to support families who are benefitting from the help and support that the Homecare Team provide. Just £1 can make all the difference.
