Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am raising money for BDFA, the only UK based charity dedicated to research into the group of diseases known as Battens. Batten Disease is a genetic life-limiting neurodegenerative condition. At present there is no cure.

In 2009 we received the devastating news that our daughter had Juvenile Batten Disease. Our lives were turned upside down, since then our perfectly healthy girl has lost her sight, suffers from seizures and is beginning to lose the ability to walk. We know this is the beginning of a long journey and other symptoms will inevitably occur. Unfortunately there are other families in the UK going through this exact journey and this is why the BDFA are so important to us. They support families from diagnosis right the way through their journey with Batten Disease to ensure they have access to the right support and information to give each family the best quality of life.
