I'm running my first 10k race in memory of our beautiful daughter Maisie

Simplyhealth Great Bristol 10K 2019 · 5 May 2019 ·
This is Maisie: my second child, my girl. We were inseparable. Other than the week she was in Intensive Care in Bristol, I never left her side - and she barely left my arms. I was lucky enough to spend size whole months, nursing her, cuddling her, smiling with her, playing games and bathing her. It's a time I will carry with me for the rest of her life.
She showed such bravery and determination to carry on in her little life: battling a heart defect and sepsis whilst also hiding a mitochondrial condition - but always with a smile on her face, even when she was at her worst. She showed me what it was to live and how to appreciate the little things in life. Despite the huge hole she has left - she has also made me a better person.
She brought so much light to so many lives - and I want to try to continue that, in my own small way. So to start with, I'm doing some fundraising - starting with my first 10k. I used to run before having Lowen and Maisie, but I never completed any races. I've always wanted to complete a race - so I'm very excited. Bristol is also a place close to our hearts - as it was in Bristol that she had her heart surgery, and where we were told she may not live very long. So it will be a pretty emotional time - but we're really looking forward to doing this for her.
If you can spare anything at all - I'll be incredibly grateful. In the meantime - I better get running!
