Story
This is the big one - I’m swimming the English Channel, Solo.
That’s right, sometime around the 20th July I’m donning my hat, goggles and trunks to swim the 21 miles towards France! I’ll have a boat and crew close to me to help navigate and feed me, however they won’t be able to give any other assistance.
What challenges will I face? Well the water will be around 16°, it’s horribly salty, I’ll be swimming in the dark, there is cargo debris, it’s one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world, there are likely to be heaps of jellyfish and there are over 40 species of Sharks all contained between the UK and France! Oh it could also take me upto 18 hours.....
If you think it’s easy, well more people have climbed Mt Everest than swam the English Channel!!!!
I’m Doing this to raise money for Aspire, a spinal injury charity. I’m funding this event myself, so every penny donated goes straight to charity!
About Aspire
Every four hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.
They are truly life changing for people!
