Story
In a dazed moment, having just climbed Scafell Pike last summer, I wondered what it would be like to take on the Three Peaks Challenge.... I have never done anything like this before, but to mark my 20th anniversary of working at the Roundhouse I thought there would be no better time to join with a merry band of Board and Development Board members, friends and supporters to take on the challenge and raise money for this wonderful organisation. And what better day to start the Challenge but on my birthday - 5 July.
The Roundhouse is the leading creative centre for young people in Europe and every year we need to raise serious funds to enable this vital work to happen. In the last year we worked with over 6,000 young people from across London, and the majority are from areas of multiple deprivation.
My personal target is £25,000. Please, if you can, help me reach this target. This sum includes a seriously generous donation from one of the Roundhouse supporters who offered, in a rash moment I suspect, to match pound for pound everything up to £10,000. Well that certainly stimulated a response and, as you can see, my total is now up and over £22,000. But I still have some way to go....
I have been training - a bit - and every extra pound raised will encourage me on.
For those of you that know me, I know you will be thinking 'oh my goodness, Marcus climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, including the travel in 24 hours.... you must be kidding'... well here goes.
I will be posting about training in due course...
Huge thanks
Marcus
More info:
The money raised from this challenge will go directly to support our work with young people. Each year we offer thousands of young people the opportunity to transform their lives by taking part in projects at the Roundhouse in music, media or the performing arts. Over 50% of the young people we work with are from lower socio-economic backgrounds. Were aiming to grow the number of young people we work with to 10,000 a year by 2023; engaging more young people in creative opportunities, particularly those from disadvantaged and under-represented backgrounds.
