Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Myself,Mark Briggs and co-driver & friend Andrew Black (Team Aces) are driving an old Hyundai Amica from the UK to Monte Carlo and back on a "Bust Rally" that challenges us to a journey of over 2000 miles.
We are raising money for Prostate Cancer UK, an organisation who's ambition is stopping men dying from prostate cancer. The charity is intent on shifting the science over the next ten years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention and support. Currently one in eight men in the UK will get prostate cancer.
Andy and I will be driving a Hyundai Amica 1.1, an incredibly small, and not so smart car (considering the distance) on an epic journey to Monte Carlo. The Hyundai is to undergo a bit of a makeover in order to attract attention, raise awareness, and raise funds for this hugely important charity for mens health. The schedule is detailed below;
Day 1. Thursday 18th July 2019 - We set off from Surrey and head to Dover to catch the ferry to France where our first night's stay will be in the Roman city of St Quentin, and where we register our car in the organised rally.
Day 2. Friday 19th July 2019 - Takes us through the champagne regions of France, arriving in Dijon, the capital of Burgundy for our second night.
Day 3. Saturday 20th July 2019 - Takes us across the border into Switzerland, around the magnificent Lake Geneva before we attempt to conquer The Alps over the grand St Bernard Pass and into Turin. (My poor little engine!)
Day 4. Sunday 21st July 2019 - The final day of the rally takes us to Monte Carlo. Once in Monte Carlo we will enjoy a lap of the F1 circuit and park up in Casino Square where the rally ends.
Days 5 & 6 - will see us return via the most direct route back to UK.
Please note that all contributions will go straight to Prostate Cancer UK. Andy and I are funding all our travel, accommodation, and other expenses ourselves. The rally is an official rally organised by Bust Rallies. Vehicles from all over the UK will be on the journey with us raising money for their own charities. It is strictly not a race.
Many Thanks
Mark & Andy
