Story
Thanks for joining or supporting our Crisis Icebreaker Swim.
Too many people in our society are sleeping rough. Crisis estimate that there were 2600 rough sleepers on London’s streets this summer.
By facing the freeze you can help bring warmth and hope to these people.
Our icebreaker swim will take place at Bray Lake on 29th February at 8.00. There are no rules, targets or set distances – just come along and get in the water then warm up with a coffee. You can wear a wetsuit or not. The swim is in recognition of the painful and cold existence of the homeless. We hope you will donate so we can help more people.
Winter swimming is personal to me – the lake gives me freedom from the confines of the pool and the fear of crashing into other swimmers. In winter the water is quiet and calm and the sense of community amongst the swimmers is more prevalent than any sense of competition.
Thanks to Geraint for co-organising this. We’re on a mission to show the girls who have already done their Ice Swim in a lido that boys can organize too! Why not take a leap in the lake' and help the homeless!
