This year will mark 5 years since the sudden loss of my Auntie  Jackie. In her memory, and all other families who experience such sudden loss due to heart disease, my Cousin Matty and his group of friends are looking to complete the Race to the Castle, 100km ultra marathon, over two days at the end of May.

We wanted to do something extremely challenging to mark a difficult occasion, but to also show how much she meant to us all. The Race to the Castle will certainly fit the bill.

Starting in Kirkhale just North-west of Newcastle, on Saturday 28th of May, we run/walk 50km (one and a quarter marathons) to our overnight camping in Amble. Next day we walk/crawl the same distance again up the coast to our finish at Bamburgh Castle.

Along with the challenge of the event itself we are committing to a stretching target of £4000 in donations to the British Heart Foundation for the team total.
