I am going to be living homeless and sleeping rough around Manchester city centre for 1 week. This is to raise money for the mustard tree(reg charity 1044349) which is an amazing organisation designed for helping the homeless amongst many others. I do not have a specific target I would like to reach, just hoping to make as much as possible to fund the many various projects we dedicate ourselves here to daily such as our soup kitchen which we run twice over the weekend and the hundreds of emergencey food parcels we distribute to those in desperatly needy situations....Besides the money I am hoping to raise awareness and highlight a situation that unfortunatly is only set to get worse because of the lack of action by the people who run the country...There are around 230-400 rough sleepers in Manchester alone although a recent goverment approved count put that figure at around just 7 which is quite laughable yet at the same time not funny! especially to those who spend months and years of their lives lost and forgotten on the streets unable to get a break or a chance simply because of what many people beleive people become homeless for. Although part of it is down to addictions it can also be down to loss of employment and family breakdowns to name but a few of the reasons. Remember:- NO ONE chooses to be homeless it's not a way of life anyone wants or enjoys!...Places like the Mustard Tree and all the other fantastic agencies and organisations are literally a lifeline to these people at times, providing food, blankets, clothing and support when it seems they have been written off by society. please join and if you can please donate to help places like the Mustard Tree continue doing the vitally important work that unfortunatly so many have come |
