Great North Run 2022 for Derian House Children's Hospice

Great North Run 2022 · 11 September 2022 ·
In June 2021 I started with couch to 5k at my daughters request to improve her stamina but I was truly bitten by the running bug and I have now completed more than 20 park runs.
On September the 11th this year I will be taking on the Great North Run to raise money for Derian House Children's Hospice in Chorley as my next running adventure with them being a charity that means so much to me and my family after they looked after our son/brother George when he valiantly battled his Cancer, tragically a battle he ultimately lost becoming an Angel aged only 9 just 6 days before Christmas 2014.
Derian House provide care and respite for so many children like George with life limiting or life shortening conditions. To provide their services to the children and families of the NW of England it costs them over £5m per year - with less than 12% of this provided by any statutory funding. They provide such valuable support to families under their care especially in the darkest of times with such fabulous committed passionate caring staff that go above and beyond each and ever day.
The Great North Run is one of the countries most well known and successful half marathons a distance of 13.1 miles. So please can I ask you to help me feel proud knowing that with each and every step I make towards the finishing line, such a good cause will be greatly benefitting by donating whatever amount you can big or small as every single penny counts in the fight to keep Derian’ s doors open supporting so many deserving children and their families.
Remembering Awesome George with love and a smile and hoping I can be half as brave as you were in completing this run
