Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In September 2017 I completed the Mont Ventoux Cingles challenge, which is to cycle all 3 routes of Ventoux in One day. This is a ride of 137 kms with 4400 metres accent. I completed the challenge in 8 hrs 10 mins, very happy with that. It was a tough challenge but I was well supported by my wife Paula who drove the support car up and down the mountain all day. After returning home and thinking about my next challenge, Two of our friends have suffered from strokes in the past couple of years so that made my mind up that I was going to attempt the ultimate cycling challenge, the Mont Ventoux Bicinglette challenge. This is all 3 routes of Ventoux, twice. This is a ride of 274 kms with 8800 metres of accent in One day and for those of you still working in old money this is a ride of 172 miles with 29000 feet of accent. We head off to Provence on 8th June 2019 for Two weeks and I can do the challenge on any day. This enables us to plan the day with weather forecasts, road conditions, etc. Paula will once again be driving the support car for what will be a very long day. We are planning on starting the ride about 3am and hoping to finish during day light hours, fingers crossed!! I know this will be the hardest thing I've ever done in my life and will probably get somewhat painful at times but what will keep me going is the thought of what pain and suffering our Two friends, Cheryl & Carolyn, as well as others go through, I'm just riding my bike, something that I love to do.

I will give updates on how my training and planning are coming along.
