Ty Hafan Taff Trail Cycle Challenge 2014 · 7 September 2014 ·

Sadly, thousands of families in Wales live every day knowing their child’s life will be short. At the moment, they often face this without any care or support. Alone. Afraid. Isolated. Tŷ Hafan’s ambition is that when a child’s life will be short, no family should have to live it on their own.

Story

Celtic Englobe are undertaking a remediation project at the Dow site in Barry, South Wales. As are part of our commitment deliver wider benefits from our projects, the project team are taking on The Tŷ Hafan Taff Trail Cycle Challenge. This involves a 52 mile (84km) cycle following the historic Taff Trail from Brecon to Cardiff.

Tŷ Hafan (http://www.tyhafan.org/) is located very close to the Dow site and is one of the UK’s leading paediatric palliative care charities and offers the only children’s hospice service in south Wales.

Tŷ Hafan offer comfort, care and support to life-limited children, young people and their families so they can make the most of the time they have left together and have supported nearly 600 children since it opened in 1999.

Every year Tŷ Hafan has to raise £3.7 million to provide its free services to families in Wales.
