Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I've volunteered for an amazing challenge in May 2011! The EMMS Bike ride 2011 for David Gordon Memorial Hospital in Livingstonia, northern Malawi, "Cycle Malawi".

One part of the challenge is to cycle about 280 miles in 5 days over fairly hilly terrain, much of it off-road, through traditional African villages, to the uplands above the shores of Lake Malawi with spectacular vies of this unspoilt landscape. It will take all my resources of enegry and stamina, but I am inspired to achieve this for a very good cause - all in support of Embaangweni Hospital and the Central Church of Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) medical projects in northern Malawi.

The second part of the challenge begins long before I go to Malawi on12th May 2011, though! By taking part in this EMMS Bike Ride for the David Gordon Memorial Hospital in Malawai I've committed myself to raising at least £2500 in sponsorship. I need your help to achieve this in support of the Hospital.

This is a special hospital, in a special part of the world, with a very special ministry of Christian love, bringing healing to people in one of the world's poorest regions, ravaged by disease, famine and HIV AIDS.

I won't be doing this on my own - I'll be in company with over 30 others from various part of the world, and together we aim to gross over £50000 for the David Gordon Memorial Hospital, to support its capacity building health projects in the north of the country, with training, fresh water supplies, solar power and refurbishment. I am particularily excited that at the end of the Bike Ride we will have the opportunity to visit David Gordon Memorial Hospital, to meet the people who work there and to see for ourselves the need that will be met by our Bike Riding efforts and by your support. This will be very special!

Although £2500 is the minimum sponsorship target for each rider in this Bike Ride, I'm aimimg beyond that target. To achieve this on behalf of the Hospitals, I'm asking for help from my family, friends and colleagues, from businesses and organisations - and from anyone I can think of! Please will you support my efforts for David Gordon Memorial Hospital in Livingstonia, northern Malawi with a sponsored donation? I hope the time and energy I'm giving for the Hospitals - and the sweat and tears! - will encourage you to be as generous as you can in support of such a worthwhile cause.

Your donation to EMMS BIKE RIDE, can be sent using this JustGiving page. I promise you my personal thanks for your help and the gratitude of all at EMMS, and you can be certain that your donation will be greatly appreciated by all the people of Northern Malawi who will benefit from the services that the Hospitals provide.

I have pinched some photos, from some of the team that were on the last trip in 2007. please take some time to look through them.
