Having been a good 81kg amateur boxer in Scotland in my younger years with around 30 bouts, I have agreed to the challenge of one more fight 21st March 2021 and headline a Charity Fund Raising Boxing Event at Saigon Sports Club, District 7, HCMC. I will be raising money for Saigon Children Charity. 

At the age of 36, I will dust off my boots and gloves and take to the ring one last time for a 4 x 3 minute round professional bout at light-heavyweight (79kg). I am 1 – 0 – 0 as a professional (brief return in 2019). My last amateur boxing match was in 2011 and my last MMA fight was in 2013. Truth be told I was really enjoying playing golf, however an offer of 200mil VND to charity if I took the fight made it impossible to turn down. I have been training very hard and will be ready.

My opponent is as tough as they come and will be an honor to share a ring with him. TDH "The King" (Truong Dinh Hoang), SEA Games Gold Medalist, current WBA Asia super-middle weight (76kg) champion and recently added to his multiple golds at the Vietnam National Boxing Championships. He is also very supportive of the charity fund raising initiatives happening at the event and has struggled with finding opponents due to the COVID restrictions in place - hence why he's boxing me (a nobody)

When the event takes place it will be both live on TV and streamed online. It is expected to gain a large number of viewers across Vietnam and South East Asia and with numerous other charity fund raising bouts between Vietnamese celebrities and top chefs in the city is expected to be a great day. The card has 5 professional fights with me vs TDH as the main event.

This is an opportunity for me to give something back to the country that has given me great opportunities and I now consider my second home. For undertaking such a challenge I am requesting donations to Saigon Children Charity through this just giving page. Teuchter (chook–terr) is a Lowland Scots word originally used to describe a Scottish Highlander, in particular a Gaelic-speaking Highlander. A name I acquired many years ago boxing when nobody could understand my Scottish-English.
