The Rosie May Foundation have a team entering into the ASDA Nottingham 10K on 16th June 2019, raising funds to give children a brighter future.

Story

I will be undertaking an unpaid internship in summer 2019 for this great cause, that keeps families together and helps provide life changing training for women in Sri Lanka and Nepal to ensure that they can support their families and to help the local economy grow and thrive.

All of the money that I raise will go towards Rosie May causes and not towards financing my trip. Therefore all donations will help transform the lives of women and children in Sri Lanka and Nepal.

This run also means something to me on a personal level, having torn the anterior cruciate ligament in my right knee in October 2018, I hope that through my training and completion of the run I can mark the end of my recovery from the injury.

Any donations will be greatly appreciated!

The Foundation's story:

The Rosie May Foundation was founded by Rosie May's parents after the murder of their only daughter, Rosie May age 10 in December 2003. In December 2004 the family decided Christmas at home would be unbearable without their daughter who especially loved this time of year. So they decided to escape with their two sons from the horrific recollections of the year before. On Christmas day in South East Asia a tiny palm tree was planted by Rosies family in memory of their beautiful little girl. On Boxing Day their paradise island in the Indian Ocean was engulfed by the 2004 Asian Tsunami. It claimed more than 230,000 lives across fourteen different countries and was one of the deadliest natural disasters ever recorded. In Sri Lanka, thousands of children were made parentless by the tsunami and this was the inspiration for the foundations very first project the Rosie May Home. The Rosie May Foundation works directly on the ground in both Sri Lanka and Nepal to protect vulnerable children.
