Event: 1 Million Step Challenge 2018, on 30 September 2018
Take 1 million steps over 3 months and get sponsored for every stride to help us reach a future where diabetes can do no harm.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have had Type 1 diabetes, asthma and hypothyroidism for several decades now, but in 2015 managed to add heart disease to the growing list unfortunately. Despite an initial flourish with the help of cardiac rehab, life has intervened and need to get back to some regular significant exercise and lose some weight into the bargain.

The idea behind this challenge is to extend a physical challenge not just as a one-off event but over a prolonged period, which means that a one-off injury is less likely to have an impact, but also that there is more likelihood of a sustainable effect.

I am pledging to walk a million steps over 3 months or 92 days - that's nearly 11,000 steps a day! I know I may walk quite a bit at weekends, but it will be a challenge to build that in to my working week! But I know that this is the sort of change I need to make going forward, so here goes...!
