Mazí Housing Project is one of the only providers of housing in Athens for displaced solo young men.

It is a programme of accommodation, material and social support, providing safety and a stepping stone that gives residents the time, space and opportunity to move on to the next chapter in their lives.

We are raising £10,000 toward independence grants + financial support we provide residents.

During the programme, Mazí provides financial support to residents who cannot access the UNHCR cashcard. In this way we provide some financial freedom to go to local markets and a way of participating in everyday, normal economic life in Greece: whether this means buying a cup of coffee, getting a haircut or saving money for the future.

When a resident leaves Mazi, we support them with connections to landlords, other organisations and ongoing support that is relevant to them. We also give each resident an independence grant to help support the transition into independent life moving forward. This recognises the difficulty all individuals have in saving for a deposit on a privately rented apartment and it is geared towards this.
