London to Brighton 100km Challenge 2014 · 24 May 2014 ·

We’re here for people requiring specialist end of life care in West Sussex and East Surrey, in our hospice or out in the community. Our care is only possible thanks to our local community who kindly donate and volunteer. Your incredible support means we can care for around 2,000 people every year.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Last year we sadly lost a lovely friend , Annette , to cancer. Three of us walked the London to Brighton in memory of loved ones and as part of that I found out how many people are affected by cancer. Those that have lost friends and family and then the great stories of those that have survived. The recurring themes that came out of those stories, the bravery but also the support needed and given by hospices that not only look after those who are terminaly ill, but also provide much needed support to the families in these hard  times. My own son has been affected by Annettes death as he is in the same class as Annettes son at school and during the year he has constantly asked about my health, what would happen if I got cancer etc.

So this year I have decided to try and do four 100k walks spread over 5 months to try and raise as much money as i can for the local hospice (St Catherine's) that supported Annette and her family.

The hospice isnt funded by the governement and requires charitable donations to function. This is a vital community service that I hope you will help support.

Many thanks

Mat
