Clowbridge Reservoir Sponsored Walk · 6 April 2019

1st April to 7th April 2019 - Autism Awareness Week is where schools, workplaces and individuals, their families and friends all over the UK are taking part in activities to raise money and awareness for autistic people.

Story

Individuals with Aspergers syndrome/Autistic Spectrum Conditions (AS/ASCs) are known to be marginalised members of society, who suffer from anxiety related illnesses and depression at a higher rate than the rest of the population. The impact of this on family members can be equally debilitating. A therapeutic service with specialised knowledge to support the mental health and well-being of those with the disability can play a vital role in reducing anxiety related illness, improving self awareness, self understanding and self-esteem, which will increase their integration and promote economic and social opportunity.
