Sky Dive for Maggie's 16/7/22

Leadenhall Abseil 2022 · 22 April 2022 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I was originally due to do an abseil down the Ladenhall (cheese grater) building in London on the 22nd of April, however due to works on the building maggies have upped the anti and it has now been changed to a sky dive of 15,000feet with a 60 sec free fall time that will take place on 16 July 22. I have been inspired / roped into doing it by a patient I met currently undergoing chemotherapy in his 80s, who recently done a wing walk and is now doing this sky dive too on the same day. I am extremely afraid of heights but there’s no backing out now if he can do it so can I.
Maggie’s is a wonderful Charity with many centres based on hospital grounds but not exactly in the hospital itself, it was set up by a lady named Maggie who sadly passed away from cancer but before she died her and her husband who was an architect created a beautiful centre that has a lovely calm environment and garden on outside as a place for patients to go perhaps while waiting for a dreaded appointment or to just sit and have a cup of tea without the hustle and bustle of the hospital. Maggie’s also offer psychological support , financial support with professional clinicians on hand to listen to any questions or queries. It is a place where you can meet other people on their cancer journey similar or unique to yours and go to support groups so you don’t feel alone, they also have yoga classes , hair loss groups and wig referral options and many more activities on a daily basis. Family and relatives can also come to the centres for free support or the even wait while the patient finishes treatment in the hospital.
Maggie’s centres are friendly open and calming spaces that offer real support whenever you need it, or just a place to go for some headspace. Maggie’s relies a lot on donations and I know some patients would be lost without it, it provides facilities and support that the hospital and wards can’t always offer.
