Story

Missy’s Mega Marathon

Hi, I’m Melissa and this year I’m taking part in a MEGA marathon to raise vital funds to keep Age Concern MRR, a local charity that I am a trustee of.

After entering the London Marathon ballot with my family (thinking I’ll never get a place), ironically, I was the only one in my group who did. I am NOT a runner, so this will be a challenge for me.

But that’s not all! I’m clearly a glutton for punishment because in June I’ve also signed up for the London to Brighton bike ride. Therefore, I’ll be covering more than 80 miles by foot and by bike in April and June.

I appreciate that times are currently tough, with energy prices increasing and inflation at an all-time high, but if you can donate and support my mission, I’d really appreciate it.

Please donate as little or as much as you can, to help us continue to support our growing elderly community – every pound counts!

I’m a Merstham girl through and through. I loved growing up here and when I realised what Age Concern did and how important it was in our local community, I just couldn’t miss this opportunity to make a difference in our local community.

The charity’s operating. Costs are roughly £60,000 a year, meaning that if I reach my target it will help to fund almost one month of our services.

Age Concern is a lifesaver for many people in our community. During the COVID pandemic, Age Concern’s services were vital in our local community. The charity’s befriending service, which costs around £1,000 a year to run, prevented our elderly community from feeling isolated.

Thank you for your donations in advance. Please do share my page with your friends, family, and the local community. Let’s make a difference together!
