My mum passed away on the 6th of April 2020, just a few weeks after I ran my first ever London Half Marathon. Unfortunately she had suffered from Alzheimer’s for many years, and after 10 years of battling, she lost that fight. She was a pivotal and inspirational woman, and was one of my biggest teachers.  The world was also overwhelmed by Covid at the time, so I never quite got back into my running shoes.

I enter the London Marathon ballot year after year, and luckily this year I won a space!  

On 23 April 2023, I will be running my first ever marathon!! It's a very daunting, and exciting feeling, all at the same time. This will be 3 years, to the month (April) that I lost my mum. I dedicate this marathon to my mum! 

The London Marathon is something many people dream of, and by getting a place in the ballot I don't need to fundraise, but the incurable effects of Alzheimer’s means that I would love to prevent loss of another person’s mother too. By supporting Alzheimer’s Research, I hope they can eventually find a cure. 

I understand everyone is feeling the pinch. But despite that, I wonder if you could dig deep and give up a coffee, takeout, (even your house. Lol) to contribute towards a charity close to my heart, the Alzheimer's Research.  There are many lives that are impacted by Alzheimer’s, and I am hopeful your contribution big or small can make a difference.

As I embark upon my couch to marathon journey, I hope to be able to share snippets of this journey with all my donors and well wishers. Your contribution will also drive me to complete this 42.2km  journey, whilst helping others in the process…..
